Track Name: Practicing Lines
practicing lines in front of a mirror
awkwardly trying to make it all clearer
because last time, we didn’t get that far

handling calls for second opinions
trying to stall before making decisions
because last time, we didn’t have the heart

we both know, but we can’t go there
it’s funny how convenience keeps this up
we’re trying, but the truth we’re fighting
is maybe we know love is not enough

mumbling words to get us through dinner
it’s rather absurd how we act like beginners
maybe this time, one of us will break

traveling home with music to cover
everything’s wrong when we look at each other
maybe this time will be the last mistake

we both know, but we can’t go there
it’s funny how convenience keeps this up
we’re trying, but the truth we’re fighting
is maybe we know love is not enough

& it’s easier to stay
when we’re facing our separate ways

still practicing lines in front of a mirror
I’m awkwardly trying to make it all clearer
because last time, we didn’t get that far

Track Name: Show Me Love
make me feel like I’ve never done this all before
make me feel like there’s nothing else I could want more

hold me down; tie me up
let it go; show me love

put your fears into a wooden jewelry box
trap them inside with a little metal lock

break me down; live it up
let it go; show me love

play my heartstrings
discover something in my soul
tear these walls down
wipe away my casted frown
my crown just hit the ground

take me down; give it up
let it go; show me love

Track Name: United States Dividing
red & blue & white, it seems we can't make up our mind again this time
whatever we decide, I wonder, “Will it cost our lives again this time?”
a freedom we can't feel for all the people who keep saying that they're trying
sure weighs heavily on families of ones who lie at the front lines dying

when will they have enough of someone's else blood?
to protect securities, they lie and say, "It's for our country."

everyone wants to tell us what we should & shouldn't do,
but they don't wanna do anything about United States dividing
tell me whatever happened to that little golden rule
that worked long before the fools had their say
& they're the only ones denying something's gotta change

rich & poor & broke, it seems that money gets to vote for us these days
ninety-nine percent is wondering, “Will ever end for us these days?”
another freedom we can't feel for all the people who keep saying that they're trying
is the reason why we're still sending so many kids to bed empty & crying

when will they have enough of someone's else blood?
to protect securities, they lie and say, "It's for our country."

everyone wants to tell us what we should & shouldn't do,
but they don't wanna do anything about United States dividing
tell me whatever happened to that little golden rule
that worked long before the fools had their say
& they're the only ones denying something's gotta change
something's gotta change

the next time you place your hand over your heart
think about exactly where you are

everyone wants to tell us what we should & shouldn't do,
but they don't wanna do anything about United States dividing
tell me whatever happened to that little golden rule
that worked so long before the fools had their say
& they're the only ones denying something's gotta change
something's gotta change; something's gotta change

Track Name: Make-Believing
the only time you say it is when we’re too intoxicated
& the only time you need me is when I’m close to leaving
the only time I feel love is when we’re trying not to give up
& the only time we’re happy is when time is quickly passing

who knew that love could stop without us knowing of it?
what do we do when pain is all that we’ve got going for us?

& I want to pretend that there’s starting again
& I know there’s no such thing as make-believing

the only thing I needed was to try to fit the pieces
but the only thing you gave me was less than what could save me
the only thing I dreamed of was someone returning my love
but the only thing I got back was you saying “I don’t want that.”

who knew we’d fall apart without us seeing?
what do I do when pain is all that I’ve got going for me?

& I want to pretend that there’s starting again
& I know there’s no such thing as make-believe

all this time I told myself there must be something wrong with me
now I know that it’s not my fault, & I have been set free

& I want to pretend that there’s starting again
& I know there’s no such thing as make-believe

& I want to pretend that it never ends
& I know there’s no such thing as make-believing

Track Name: The Storm Song
so this is the quiet before the storm
but I won’t be afraid
‘cause I have seen it a thousand times before
& I know just what to say

go away! I don’t have the strength
to deal with difficult times today
I just want to think about the love that I have made

so now that the storm has finally passed
the sun is coming through the clouds
it’s drowning out all the darkness cast
& drying up the grounds
& I just want to think about the love that I have made

go away! I don’t have the strength
to deal with difficult times today
I just want to think about the love that I have made
I just want to think about the love that I have made
I just want to think about the love that I have made

Track Name: A Bitter Aftertaste
so I’ve been making decisions that even I don’t approve of
but I am living in a world full of wreckage that just don’t let up
I ain’t denying that reasons exist why I shouldn’t give up
but I’m tired of trying when I’m the only one who gives a fuck

I know that I’m no angel, but I’m working on my wings

there’s a bitter aftertaste when I swallow down my pride
but look a little closer at my face, & you’ll see I will survive
as for weakness, there’s no place, baby, I haven’t tried
if there were a lack of aftertaste, I just wouldn’t feel alive

I keep on searching for answers to questions that aren’t even there
if I stop looking, I’d be so afraid that I might have time to spare
& that means danger; I don’t know if I can keep on losing air
when I am riding on three worn tires & a heart that doesn't care

I know that I’m no soldier, but I’m brandishing my sword

there’s a bitter aftertaste when I swallow down my pride
but look a little closer at my face, & you’ll see I will survive
as for weakness, there’s no place, baby, I haven’t tried
if there were a lack of aftertaste, I just wouldn’t feel alive

I will follow in their footsteps,
& I’ll hold my head up to the sky
I may not have too much to show just yet,
but with honor, we will live and die

I know that I’m no savior, but I’m demanding to be free

there’s a bitter aftertaste when I swallow down my pride
but look a little closer at my face, & you’ll see I will survive
as for weakness, there’s no place, baby, I haven’t tried
if there were a lack of aftertaste, I just wouldn’t feel alive

Track Name: Just Another Sad Song
there may not be any bars, but I’m feeling confined
‘cause I can’t be there where you are all of the time
I’m not one to worry, but I can’t wrap my head
around all of the hurtin’ you leave me with instead

it’s not over
it only makes it harder next time

when you come home
it’s almost like you never even left me alone
we’ll start over again like there’s nothing wrong
but the pieces only fit together when you’re not gone
when you leave, we’re just another sad song

I am learning from the faults you said that I have made
with a face pressed to the wall & your anger turned to pain
I’m not one to weather this kind of control
but when it’s just us here together, you say, “It’s natural.”

it’s never over
it only makes it harder next time

when you come home
it’s almost like you never even left me alone
we’ll start over again like there’s nothing wrong
but the pieces only fit together when you’re not gone
when you leave, we’re just another sad song

every time I feel like I need to escape
I ask myself, “Who’s gonna be there for you, babe?”

it’s almost like you never even left me alone
we’ll start over again like there’s nothing wrong
but the pieces only fit together when you’re not gone
can’t you see we’re just another sad song?

Track Name: History Book
I won’t let you go tonight
I’ll give you reasons to hold on tight
other than the cold we’re starting on
a story will unfold before too long

let’s make a history book out of love
that explains the mysteries I can’t get enough of
we’ll arrange the pages from beginning to end
and then hope our last line is never written

you are everything to me
and any barter would go unsuccessfully
I hear it in the way you speak my name
I see it every day, you feel the same

let’s make a history book out of love
that explains the mysteries I can’t get enough of
we’ll arrange the pages from beginning to end
and then hope our last line is never written

we’ll press a seal on the first page
and write our names on the same line
coining each phrase as we age
to tell the stories in a logical way on a timeline

let’s make a history book out of love
that explains the mysteries I can’t get enough of
we’ll arrange the pages from beginning to end
and then hope our last line is never written

Track Name: An Easy Surrender
awake again, another night
the memories of times when things were rational
I can’t forget, just wanna forget
all of the secrets kept to keep the lines drawn

but tonight, I can’t sleep
& dishonor runs deeper than I thought
when all you have left to lose is the weakness
that you’ve been running from so long

let it rain; let the water wash away every stain
I’d rather not remember, but they’ll stay
& I know that there’s a reason why I crave
an easy surrender

time has gone, taking away
all those mistakes I made when I was just a child
what remains, so many regrets
the warning never said was, “Think before you lie...”

even now, I’m miles away
& I can hear his voice saying the same phrase
“For you, a thousand times over,” & here I am
a stone thrower shattering the blame

let it rain; let the water wash away every stain
I’d rather not remember, but they’ll stay,
& I know that there’s a reason why I crave
an easy surrender

I hope that distance makes it better
& I promise one day to read your letters
but for now, I’m letting go of maybe,
so that I can be the one that saves me...finally

let it rain; let the water wash away every stain
I’d rather not remember, but they’ll stay,
& I know that there’s a reason why I crave
an easy surrender; let it rain
there’s a reason

Track Name: Ten Feet Tall on Tequila
well, I got a text from one of my friends
she said, "Let's go out drinking again..."
& I asked, "Do you remember last night?
‘cause I sure as hell don't!"

I walked in the door about half an hour late
the same old faces; the same damn games
when the bartender said, "Come on, buddy.
Sit down & have a drink!"

then out of nowhere I heard a laugh so loud,
& I knew that it was that girl in the crowd
& I guess tables weren't just made for eating on
’cause the next thing I know, she's climbing up on top
when the bartender says, "Girl, you gonna have to stop!"
but she can't hear for the crowd that's cheering her on

‘cause she's ten feet tall on tequila again
you better watch out, better hide your boyfriend
& your girlfriends, too; she's a loaded gun of love
she's ten feet tall on tequila again
she'll love you up until the party ends
then it's back home to her family of kids
until she's ten feet tall again

a couple hours in, & we're on to bar five
who says Mondays suck when you got a bunch of dives?
& if you look hard enough, you can find karaoke every night
she gets up to sing "I Will Always Love You"
& it sounds good to her, but I sure wish she would choose
the original version, ’cause with Whitney Houston's, that girl is screwed

then out of nowhere I heard a laugh so loud,
& I knew that it was that girl in the crowd
& I guess tables weren't just made for eating on

‘cause the next thing I know, she's climbing up on top
when the bartender says, "Girl, you gonna have to stop!"
but she can't hear for the crowd that's cheering her on

’cause she's ten feet tall on tequila again
you better watch out, better hide your boyfriend
& your girlfriends, too; she's a loaded gun of love
she's ten feet tall on tequila again
she'll love you up until the party ends
then it's back home to her family of kids
until she's ten feet tall again

& she sings, "I will always love you.”
& she sings, “I will always love you, & you & you & you.
Aww, hell, I love everybody!"

’cause she's ten feet tall on tequila again
you better watch out, better hide your boyfriend
& your girlfriends, too; she's a loaded gun of love
she's ten feet tall on tequila again
she'll love you up until the party ends
then it's back home to her family of kids
until she's ten feet tall again

well, I got a text from one of my friends
